Danish-Swedish singer-songwriter Emmelie de Forest, received international recognition when she won the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2013 with her song Only Teardrops. After the victory, she travelled the world, had advertising campaigns in China, TV shows and concerts throughout Europe as well as songwriting in the United States. With the victory, Emmelie was also named European Of The Year in 2013 by the European Movement.
Before the final in Malmö, Emmelie signed a record deal with Universal Music where she released an album, an acoustic EP and five singles. But in early 2016 after 3 years, she decided to leave, to find herself as an artist and the freedom to create her own sound. In November 2017, she released her independent single ”Sanctuary” which was played several times daily on Danish radio channel P4 for the next months.
The second single ”History” and the mini-album with the same title was released in February 2018 in collaboration with Cosmos Music Sweden. The album was financed by Emmelie herself together with her fans, who through crowdfunding raised a total of DKK 90,000 on PledgeMusic.com to record the album.Emmelie is a creative soul who is constantly looking for new ways to express herself.
In 2015, she participated in the film‘Solo Project’, where she played the singer Esther Hviid and has later on acted in other short films such as:‘Etager’, ‘JIM’ and ‘Text Me When You Get Home’.Emmelie is also very engaged in animal welfare, and in the spring of 2016 she traveled to Borneo with Danish television channel DK4 to make a documentary about her first encounter with the Orangutans at Lone Droscher Nielsen’s rehabilitation center. Here she was appointed Ambassador of Save The Orangutan.Emmelie appeared as a judge in ”All Together Now” in the autumn of 2018 on Kanal 5 and participated in the 15th season of Vild Med Dans, the danish version of Dancing With The Stars, also in the autumn of 2018, which aired on TV2.
